Feeling Bored Is Completely Normal

Many people want to feel excited and great all the time. They share what they have accomplished. They learn new cool stuff. But one day, they have to face the truth: feeling bored.

You can not avoid feeling bored. You can not. That is a mission impossible. Even James Bond can not do that. I know that because James Bond is my cousin. Believe me, okay?

I find funny people when they are shouting while giving a speech about motivation. You can find those funny people on YouTube easily. They put lions on the video thumbnail as if we are better than lions. I do not like lions, by the way. Those lions can not motivate me to wake up at 5 AM. They can not.

Stoic videos are the same except they put some jacked Roman guys. Trust me, you will not become wise in a day or even in 10 minutes. You can not. If that is possible, we will not have so many stupid people on the internet. Am I right?

As you know now, we live in a time when people want you to be strong to the point that feeling weak is wrong. Weakness is not a false thing to have. We need weaknesses. You may say, "Hanno, we should not show our weaknesses." Well, that is not possible. Whatever you do, you show your weaknesses. Trying to be perfect, you get stressed. You feel scared to make mistakes. That is bad. In fact, that is extremely bad.

Do you breathe? That is a weakness. Imagine how many micro living beings—like viruses—that are in the air, and you suck those creatures into your body. You may get sick if you have a weak immune system. And here is the one-million-dollar wisdom: being sick once in a while does not mean you are bad. That means you are just a human. Again, you are just a human. Don't you understand that?

When you feel bored in whatever you are doing, you are normal. You are doing great. Allow yourself to feel bored. That is totally fine. Do not force yourself to get excited every time you wake up. You do not have to be excited.

Now, do not get me wrong. I want to wake up feeling excited every morning. I want to immediately feel happy and excited to learn new CSS features. I want to feel excited to write articles. But I can not demand to always feel like that. I can not. I should not, either.

I understand that some people on social media present themselves as high-energy person. They get excited all the time. They post regularly, unlike me. But those posts do not present them as a whole person. You do not know whether they are in a bad mood. They do not show that, and we do not need to know that. But we need to know that they are humans too. They are the same as us. We all experience ups and downs.

The point is that you should not hate what you feel, and do not fall in love too much with great feelings. The reason is simple. All feelings are temporary. They will go away. They will come again. If you hate feeling bored, you waste your energy on something that will go away. But if you love the excited feeling, you prepare yourself to be disappointed with yourself because it will go someday.

Love what you feel. Welcome the boredom. Continue your activity. Expect the best from yourself.

Let me know what you think. Otherwise, I will feel bored if I do not see your comments. Thank you!
